The Wanton Bishops are a Lebanese rock band formed in 2011 in Beirut. The founder and frontman is singer and guitarist Nader Mansour. Although the band hails from Lebanon, their sound is heavily influenced by American blues, 60s and 70s rock. The unusual combination of the genres of blues, garage rock and psychedelic rock gives the band an unprecedented character that has won The Wanton Bishops the favor of thousands of fans. For example, they have performed at the prestigious British festival Glastonbury. Despite coming from a country with a complicated political situation, they have managed to captivate audiences across the globe with their authenticity and creativity.
The band's lyrics often resonate with social and political issues relevant to their home country. An example is their debut album Sleep With The Lights On (2015), which features the popular song Sleep in the Garden. The latter has over 10 million plays on the streaming platform. But beyond the raw lyrics and Nader Mansour's unmistakable voice, the band also incorporates visual art into their live performances to enhance the overall atmosphere, making their concerts an unforgettable musical and artistic experience. The special guest will be Dubinski, a band of four siblings from Scotland who combine elements of alternative rock, indie rock and electronica. Melodically and rhythmically catchy songs, lyrics touching on personal themes, inspiration from Radiohead, The Strokes, Foals or LCD Soundsystem - all this forms the character of the band, which together with The Wanton Bishops will present itself to Czech fans on 21 January 2025 at Café V lese.
