JAMIE XX RELEASED A NEW ALBUM AFTER NINE YEARS. HE WILL ALSO PRESENT IT IN PRAGUE
Jamie xx - the producer, DJ and beatmaker who helped shape the sound of the first decade of this millennium - has a new album out! He'll unveil it on March 17, 2025 at the Forum Karlín. Jamie xx got his start in the indie scene with The xx and it was his ability to combine indie music with R&B and dance that catapulted him to the forefront of the electronic scene. He can make progressive beats, sample vocals and is also an excellent remixer. Jamie xx has released his new album In Waves after nine years and will be making his first solo appearance in Prague, so don't miss his show.
A few days after the release of the new album, which has already managed to collect millions of listens on streaming platforms, Jamie xx announces an extensive worldwide tour, which will also please Prague. Finally. When the entire band The xx visited Prague a few years ago, it was an incredible ride and the concert at the Forum Karlín was sold out almost immediately. Even then, The xx played some of Jamie's solos and even then the response was enthusiastic. Eight years later, Jamie xx would perform his songs again at the same venue. And not just them.
It really took a full nine years for Jamie's second solo album to come out. His debut In Colour was nominated for a Grammy, BRIT, Ivor Novello and Mercury Music Prize, so expectations were not low. Jamie dedicated four years to working on the album. It's a record that reflects a period of pandemonium and moments of self-reflection. It features a newfound love of surfing as an escape from reality. It will give you the same feelings as blinking into a strobe light. It's an album that's on track to eclipse its glorious predecessor.
Back in April, Jamie released the single Baddy On The Floor, a joyous collaboration with Honey Dijon, which was followed in June by Treat Each Other Right, a massive breakbeat futuristic anthem for which a music video was created by photographer and filmmaker Rosie Marks. This was followed by a collaboration with Robyn on the track Life, and there's also Oliver Sim and Romy Madley - bandmates from The xx - who guest Jamie on Waited All Night. All of these songs have one thing in common - they foreshadowed what the In Waves album would be like. Full of joy and euphoria. And that's exactly what it is.
Don't miss the opportunity to hear her live!
