Australian indie-rock band Great Gable returns to Prague. After opening for Lime Cordiale, the four-piece band is now preparing their premiere Prague headline show, where they will, among other things, present their new album Small Fry. Tickets for 360,- plus fees available at GoOut.
Fun tunes, catchy choruses and exceptional charisma - that's Great Gable, who celebrated ten years on the music scene this year. The story of this Australian band began in 2014 when singer Alex Whiteman and guitarist Matt Preen met at a cricket competition. Over time, innocent jamming became a full-fledged hobby, and the band grew to include a drummer and bassist. The line-up has changed over the years, most recently in 2023 when Madi Hanley took over the drumsticks from Callum Guy. We had the opportunity to see the band in this line-up at Fuchs2 in September, where they supported fellow Australians Lime Cordiale. There they also presented the first excerpts from Small Fry, which was released on 11 October 2024.
"We wanted to make an authentic record that just captures the reality of four friends playing music in one room. No exaggerated effects, no combinations. Just total focus on the writing and the songs themselves. Overall then, the energy that comes out of Small Fry is much more joyful, which is perhaps a sign that we as a band are happier in life now too," says the band. The new record offers a run through of every emotion imaginable. While Think Again, Motherf*cker speaks to fans with a typical surf-rock sound, closer Asleep forces listeners to switch off for a moment and listen to frontman Alex's angelic vocals, accompanied by lilting guitar tones.
