British singer-songwriter Dan Croll has quickly become one of the UK's most popular indie-rock artists since 2012, when he first appeared on Communion Records' New Faces compilation, which earned him a spot on The Guardian's New Band Of The Day.
His 2014 debut album 'Sweet Disarray' hit #26 on the UK album chart upon release and was followed by his popular second LP 'Emerging Adulthood' in 2017, and the frontman rode a wave of recognition and acclaim from thousands in the industry.
In recent years Dan has emigrated to the United States, where he found inspiration for his third studio effort 'Grand Plan', a record that sought to define his time in a new country while bringing a truly intimate narrative level to his work.
The new album Fools finds British singer Dan Croll at a crossroads, helping him document recent events and decide which direction to take with warmth and wit. Five years after a whimsical departure from his beloved Liverpool to sun-drenched LA that fundamentally changed the sound of his recordings. On Fools, he asks the question - is it time to come home?
Fools jumps forward, through Covid to the end of an intense three-year relationship, the death of Dan's grandmother back in Britain and a rare trip home at a time when restrictions have been lifted. Sonically, it spreads its net wider - country, disco and woozy psychedelia join the nods to Carole King and James Taylor on Grand Plan.
Both albums were largely recorded live at the legendary Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia with Matthew E. White (Natalie Prass, Flo Morrissey, Slow Club) and his four-piece house band. This time, Dan was involved in the production and played around with the sounds late into the night to give the recording his own stamp.
Dan Croll will perform for the first time in the Czech Republic on 21.11. in Café V lese. Support will be provided by Irish folk singer-songwriter Niamh Regan.
