THE PROSTITUTES

The Prostitutes were formed in 2004 in Prague. The eponymous EP put the band on the map, the albums "Get Me Out Of Here" and especially "Hometown Zombies" allowed the band to expand their domestic success abroad. The Prostitutes went on a successful tour in Spain, played several times in Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Germany. They regularly appear at the main domestic festivals, they played at the Slovak Pohoda, Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, Berlin Insane in Volksbühne, in Prague at the official celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall or this year at the Bratislava BatCave Party.

The Prostitutes' stylistic mix is primarily based on post-punk and influenced by indie rock, country music, electronica and experimental and alternative rock. This, along with exceptionally live and energetic shows, is the main reason why the band is appreciated by both music publicists and the ever-growing legions of fans. The Prostitutes have won numerous domestic awards - Album of the Year (Filter 2009), Band of the Year (Filter 2007), Music Video of the Year (Óčko 2006), Song of the Decade, Top 10 albums of the last 20 years and more. The band's songs have expanded beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, being played on (mainly student) radio stations from Alaska to Australia. Prostitutes have appeared on Spanish MTV, and their public television station aired footage of a live performance. German radios broadcast the songs "Sunshine", "Don't Give A Damn", "Leave It Like It Is a Boom". In November 2009, bassist Adam Piaf, otherwise known as a member of the Calm Season project, became a new member of the band. It is not without interest that the age difference in the band is 26 years and among the members you can find an artist, director, toxicologist, sociologist and creative director.

At the end of February 2012, The Prostitutes recorded their third studio album entitled "Deaf to the Call". The album was recorded in Prague, in the legendary Faust recording studio under the guidance of one of the world's leading alternative rock music producers, Martin "Youth" Glover. "Youth" is a member of the legendary Killing Joke and together with Paul McCartney they form their own project The Firemen. As a producer, he is signed to the most successful records of The Verve, Primal Scream, The Futureheads, The Cult and others. He has worked with Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson,Sugarcubes, U2 and Siouxsie & The Banshees, but his discography also includes names like Dido and Erasure.
